citrus mint cold brew + cherry orange italian soda // az bitters lab

Hello my darlings! How was your weekend? Mine is still going and has been so so lovely as I am currently on a fun little excursion!! You can keep up with all of my travel adventures on Instagram, which I typically update daily. There will definitely be a post or two coming very soon with photos + details as well!

Today is suuuper exciting because I am sharing a few of my barista secrets with you guys! As you (probably) know, in addition to being a student and writing this blog, I am a full time barista! I’ve tested countless combinations in my time, visited quite a few coffee shops and would say I have become quite the drink connoisseur.

So when it comes to creating drinks, I don’t mess around! Hands down the star of these recipes and what sets them apart (ahem, makes them the best) are the bitters! Just a few drops adds a unique fresh flavor that I have yet to try anywhere else. I like to use the ones from AZ Bitters Lab, a local Arizona company that handcrafts the delicious flavor goodness from locally sourced ingredients. Definitely changed the game for me and taken my at home barista drinks to the next level!

I of course gravitate towards anything citrus, so the Orange Sunshine was calling my name! Even alone with water is delicious, but today I am sharing some wow factor drink recipes that are totally easy, and taste better than allll the trendiest coffee shops around 😉 . Take my word for it and thank me later!

citrus mint cold brew

yield: 4 servings     //     prep time: 15 minutes

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • fresh mint leaves (~ 5 leaves)
  • cold brew (I use this one)
  • Orange Sunshine bitters (add to taste, I recommend 3-5 drops!)
  • dairy-free creamer (I use this one)

In small saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Stir constantly for 5-7 minutes until thickened slightly. Add mint leaves and stir. Leave to cool. Once cooled, remove mint and transfer to container. To prepare: add desired amount of syrup to serving glass. Fill with cold brew, leaving room. Add Orange Sunshine bitters followed by ice, and top with non-dairy creamer. Optional: garnish with orange zest and mint leaves to look super pretty!

cherry orange italian soda

yield: 4 servings     //     prep time: 15 minutes

  • 1 12 oz bag frozen pitted cherries
  • 2-4 tablespoons water
  • Orange Sunshine bitters (add to taste, I recommend, 5-7 drops!)
  • sparkling water
  • dairy-free creamer

Combine cherries and water in medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until thickened to puree consistency. Add desired amount of cherry puree to serving glass along with Orange Sunshine bitters. Add ice, followed by non-dairy creamer and top with sparkling water. Optional: garnish with fresh cherries and/or orange zest to add extra flavor and look super pretty!
