Merry Christmas eve eve everyone!! Today I am sharing my favorite hot chocolate recipe that is not only loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and healthy fats, but it is also the most amazing hot chocolate you will ever try. Promise. Now go make it!!
benefits of cacao:
Cacao contains PEA, a compound that triggers the release of endorphins and makes you happy (cacao and blue algae are the only foods in the world that contain PEA)! The superfood also boosts serotonin levels, the feel good chemical of the brain. Just a single tablespoon contains 3-9% of the daily recommendation for iron, magnesium and zinc intake. Cacao is also a great source of flavonols that help in preventing systemic inflammation which protects against cardiovascular disease and reduces risk of stroke. Polyphenols, a complex antioxidant found in cacao helps reduce bad cholesterol and prevents hardening of arteries. It is also a good source of fiber as well as sulfur (sulfur is amazing for hair, skin and nails).

vegan superfood hot chocolate
- 2 cups almondmilk
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cacao powder
- 1-2 tablespoons coconut sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon arrowroot powder (or cornstarch)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/8 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt
- optional: 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- Whisk ingredients together in medium saucepan over medium heat.
*make sure to use nondairy milk for this recipe as cow milk prevents the absorption of antioxidants.
